Concert guides

Most arenas don't need a guide — you walk out, get a taxi and go home. These venues are different, and how you get back depends on where you stay.

How a venue gets on this list

We look for something worth checking before you book — something the venue and booking sites don't tell you. Size alone doesn't qualify a venue, and neither does being walkable from the city centre. What matters is whether a real fact changes where you should stay.

Sometimes that's a timetable — a last train that leaves before the curfew, or a shuttle that only stops at four hotels. Sometimes it's getting back by car: no taxi rank, a pickup point a long walk from the gate, a road that closes after the show, or a ride app that doesn't work in that country. And sometimes the venue simply isn't in the city printed on the ticket.

Where a venue has a regular season, the guide covers every show, because the last train and the walk time will still be true next year. Where it's a one-off, like Slane, we say so.
