Where to stay for Slane Castle

Slane has two concerts in 2027: Fontaines D.C. on 26 and 27 June, and Oasis on 4 and 5 September. Each is two nights of 80,000 people on a hillside above the Boyne, next to a village of 1,445, with no camping at the concert and one road in.

The short answer

Stay in Slane village if you can. You walk home in minutes, inside the road closure. It's the best option by far, and it books up first. The Conyngham Arms Hotel is in the village and has a 24-hour desk — all 18 places to stay are listed below.

Otherwise, stay in Navan. It's the only town with an official coach, so you get a booked seat home on a published timetable.

Dublin works and has the most choice. Drogheda has plenty of hotels but no confirmed way back.

What time does it finish?

Around 23:30, going by 2026. 2027 stage times aren’t published yet. For Luke Combs in 2026 the finish was expected around 23:30, with last entry at 21:30. We haven’t found a report of when it actually ended.

Two concert weekends in 2027

The two shows are ten weeks apart, and everything else on this page applies to both: the same hillside, the same road closure, the same coaches and the same hotels. Only the dates and the daylight change.

Fontaines D.C. — Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 June 2027

Support: Hayley Williams, Damien Dempsey and Madra Salach, both nights.

Tickets: On sale. The Saturday sold out in pre-sale, before general sale opened; the Sunday was added in response and went on general sale on 3 September 2026.

Camping: Slane Farm Camping is selling pitches for both nights at €66.08, Friday-and-Saturday or Saturday-and-Sunday.

See stays for 26 & 27 June 2027

Oasis — Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September 2027

Support: Richard Ashcroft, both nights.

Tickets: Sold out. Tickets were sold by registration only, across Friday 25, Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September 2026. The band says resale won't open until nearer the shows, and only at the original price, through Ticketmaster and Twickets. Prices were fixed at €181.25 to €501.25 including the booking fee, with a service charge of up to €10.50 and a limit of four tickets a person. There is no dynamic pricing this time.

Camping: Slane Farm Camping says its Oasis pitches go on sale the same day as the concert tickets. Rock Farm had not opened any 2027 sales when we checked.

Both links open Friday to Monday, because the road closes at half twelve on concert day and arriving that morning is risky. Everything further down this page opens without dates, so you can price either weekend.

Before you book: the last coach leaves as the encore ends

Marathon Coaches, the official operator, runs returns to Dublin on demand between 21:00 and 23:30, and to Navan between 22:00 and 23:30. Last year's Slane show was due to finish at about 23:30.

If the 2027 curfew is the same, the last coach leaves while the band is still playing. You can't fix that on the night, so decide when you book: stay close enough to walk, or plan to leave before the end.

No camping at the concert

Camping is banned on the concert site, and there's no official camping anywhere. So everyone at the concert — 160,000 people over the two nights — needs somewhere else to sleep.

Nearby, there are three small campsites. Slane Farm Camping is 300 metres from the concert grounds and was selling Friday-and-Saturday tickets for 2027 at €66.08 when we checked, with Sunday sold separately. Slane Farm Hostel has camping from €12 per person and dorm beds from €25, and says prices vary on concert weekends. Rock Farm is across the river — twenty minutes there, forty minutes back through the village. It hadn't opened 2027 sales, and it takes no under-12s, no pets and no caravans; motorhomes must be on site by 8pm Friday.

For Oasis, the camping goes on sale the same day as the tickets. That's Slane Farm Camping's own notice, and it means the September pitches are decided over the same weekend as the gig tickets rather than months later. If you want to camp, sort it then.

Each area in more detail

Slane village — You walk

Suits: Anyone who can get a room here. It's the best option by far.

There's very little here — one hotel, a few guesthouses, a hostel and campsites. It books up first and costs the most. If you get a room in Slane, you don't need to plan any transport.

Navan — Official coach home

Suits: Anyone who wants a booked seat home.

The official coach is what makes Navan work: a reserved seat on a published timetable, which Drogheda and the wider valley can't offer. Allow 1.5 hours or more on the day for what is normally a 30-minute trip.

Dublin city — Most choice

Suits: People flying in, and anyone who wants more from the trip than one concert.

A bookable coach home on a published timetable. But the last coach leaves at 23:30 and last year's show was due to finish at 23:30, so either leave before the encore or expect a long wait.

Drogheda — Rooms, but no way back

Suits: Only people whose hotel has confirmed a shuttle in writing.

Drogheda is good in every way except getting back. Hotels here have run Slane packages before, so ask — but don't book assuming a scheduled bus will run at midnight, because none has been published.

Kells · Trim · Boyne Valley — Drive, then queue

Suits: Groups with a car and patience, or anyone spending the weekend in the Boyne Valley.

Plenty of rooms, but no organised way back. That means the two-hour car park queue, then a drive home on unlit country roads.

Camping near the site — Closest to the site

Suits: Anyone who would rather walk 300 metres than queue two hours.

The only places to stay within walking distance of the concert. Prices and rules for all three are in the camping section above.

Every way out, ranked

1. Marathon Coaches — the official service Reliable

Already on sale for both 2027 nights. From Dublin (Northwall Quay): €40 early, €60 regular, about an hour — but allow two and a half on the day. It drops you at the transport hub on the N2, south of the village. From Navan Park & Ride: €20–30, about thirty minutes, allow an hour and a half.

The catch: Returns run on demand between 21:00 and 23:30 to Dublin and 22:00 and 23:30 to Navan. Last year's show was due to finish at 23:30.

2. Your own car, pre-registered Usually fine

Free, but you must register in advance — the Irish Examiner reports a 1 May 2027 deadline on the venue website. You're given a car park based on the direction you're leaving in, rather than choosing one.

The catch: Five car parks, each a 20–30 minute walk from the site, and at least two hours to get out afterwards — see below.

3. Scheduled buses Usually fine

Collins Coaches route 980 runs Abbey Street in Dublin direct to Chapel Street in Slane in 55 minutes, then a 23-minute walk. Route 190 is the Drogheda–Slane–Navan artery and the only scheduled link to either town.

The catch: Nobody publishes the time of the last 190 from Slane on a Saturday or Sunday night, and we couldn't find it. Don't rely on it unless you've confirmed the last departure yourself on the TFI Journey Planner.

4. Private coach from your own town Usually fine

Irish Concert Travel runs Slane services from Sligo, Galway, Athlone, Cavan, Mullingar, Kells, Navan and others, departing 30 minutes after the concert ends. Official 2027 services also run from Belfast, Cork, Dublin and Limerick.

The catch: The drop-off is 2 km from the castle, a 30–40 minute walk each way. 2027 Slane services weren't listed yet when we checked.

5. The train Not a plan

There is no station at Slane. The nearest is Drogheda, 15km away on the Dublin–Belfast line.

The catch: Every last train from Drogheda we found leaves before about 22:40 — before the show ends — and there's no confirmed way from Slane to Drogheda at that hour anyway. The train can get you to the area on Saturday morning, but not home.

6. Taxi Useless

No taxi arrangements have been published.

The catch: A village of 1,445 inside a full road closure with Garda checkpoints, 80,000 people leaving at once, and car parks that take two hours to clear. That's our judgement rather than a published fact, but don't count on a taxi at 23:30.

Things that will catch you out

Two hours to get out of the car park

That's the promoter's own guidance, not a worst case, and it comes after a 20–30 minute walk back to the car. The official advice is to allow at least three extra hours of travel each way. Coaches leave before cars.

Register for parking by 1 May 2027

Parking is free but you must register in advance on the venue website. The Irish Examiner reports a 1 May 2027 deadline — much earlier than 2026's five-days-before window. Miss it and you won't have a car park space. Illegally parked cars are towed and clamped.

The road shuts at half twelve

In 2026 there was a partial road closure from 10:30 and a full closure from 12:30, with Garda checkpoints, for gates that opened at 15:00. Don't plan to arrive in the afternoon. No vehicles are routed via the Kells Road.

No re-entry, and screenshots won't work

Once you're in, you can't leave and come back. Download your ticket to your phone beforehand rather than taking a screenshot — the barcodes are live and update. Under-16s must be with a parent or guardian over 25 the whole time, and anyone unaccompanied is refused entry without a refund.

Umbrellas out, soft bottles in

Banned: camping, folding chairs, umbrellas, glass, cans, alcohol, flags larger than A3, e-scooters, disposable vapes, professional cameras and flares. Hard plastic, metal and glass reusable bottles are refused, but soft collapsible water bottles are allowed. On a steep grass hill with no umbrellas, a hooded waterproof is the only option.

The site is a steep hill

Sloping grass and gravel throughout — difficult for anyone with limited mobility, and no place for heels. Accessible parking on the Red route is 620 metres from the site along a gravel path, the shortest accessible route. The Green approach from the Dublin side goes through woodland and is the least suitable.

The village has about 350 pub seats for 80,000 people

Boyle's of Slane holds 150 to 200 people including the beer garden, and Silly Sid's switches to food trucks for the weekend. If you want a pint in the village first, go at 10am, not 1pm — the road shuts at 12:30 either way.

Stay out of the Boyne

The official notice says it in capitals: never enter the River Boyne, which has dangerous undercurrents at all times. The site runs down to the water and late June is warm, so people do try.

What the weather is like, and how dark it gets

Late June is usually Ireland's warmest time of year, but nothing is certain. June 2026 was exceptional — Phoenix Park had its warmest June in 127 years, and Dunsany in Meath set a new record for its highest minimum temperature, 19.3°C — yet Met Éireann still recorded above-average rainfall at every station. Expect warm and bright, but pack for rain.

September is the bigger difference, and it's the light rather than the temperature. We calculated sunset at Slane for both weekends: 22:01 in late June but 20:10 in early September, nearly two hours earlier. A show finishing around 23:30 ends in late twilight in June and in full darkness in September — which matters for the twenty to thirty minute walk back to a car park across sloping grass and gravel. Bring a torch for the Oasis weekend, and don't rely on your phone.

The site is a steep grass-and-gravel hill above a river, umbrellas are banned, and the walk back to the car takes twenty to thirty minutes before a two-hour queue to get out. Wear boots and bring a hooded waterproof.

If you're staying the weekend

The Boyne Valley is home to Brú na Bóinne — Newgrange and Knowth — a UNESCO World Heritage site about fifteen minutes up the road, and older than Stonehenge and the pyramids.

Day trips also run from Dublin, if that's where you're staying.
