Getting to The Fields
The venue is 140km from Bangkok and 20 minutes inland from the Pattaya coast, on a road with no bus, no train and nothing within walking distance. Here's what each part of the journey costs and how long it really takes.
Fly into Suvarnabhumi, not Don Mueang. Everything to Pattaya leaves from the same place — Level 1 arrivals, Gate 8 — and Don Mueang adds an hour or more.
Take Bell Travel. It costs around THB 250–300 and drops you at your hotel, so you skip the part of the journey where people get overcharged.
Then buy the festival shuttle pass in its first price tier, before it sells out.

With luggage, Bell is the best choice. The coach is cheaper but drops you at a Pattaya bus stop, so you'll need another ride with your bags, and it only allows one bag plus a case up to 20kg — fine for a rucksack, awkward for a hard case plus camping gear.
About taxi prices. Suvarnabhumi's rules let drivers agree a flat fare instead of using the meter for trips over 20km, and Pattaya is well over that. So a fixed price isn't automatically a scam — but the amount might be. Much more than ฿1,800 is too much. Use the official rank between Gates 4 and 7, and ignore anyone who approaches you before you get there.
Avoid Don Mueang if you can. The direct bus only runs about every four hours, between roughly 06:30 and 17:30, and there's nothing outside those times. A taxi has to cross the whole of Bangkok before it even reaches the motorway.
U-Tapao is 30km from the venue but not much use. It's a very small airport with about four domestic routes and no connections to Europe or the Gulf. It only helps if you're combining the festival with Samui or Phuket without going back through Bangkok.
Friday 4 December is the worst day to arrive
A good run from Bangkok takes about two hours; a bad one takes three or more, and the slow part is getting out of the city, not the motorway. Friday the 4th is a working day right before a three-day national holiday, on the main route to Thailand's biggest beach destination.
If you land at 4pm expecting to reach the gates by 7pm, you'll be disappointed. Allow three to four hours from door to gate — and remember Thursday's gate closes at midnight, no exceptions. Arriving on Wednesday avoids all of this.
Getting to and from the gates, ranked
Every way in and out of The Fields, from most to least reliable.
1. Official festival shuttle Reliable
Unlimited journeys for the whole festival on one pass, booked through the BusX app, between the site and a few named Pattaya hotels. THB 1,500 in the first tier in both 2024 and 2025, more for later buyers, or THB 350 for a single walk-on trip with no guaranteed seat.
The catch: The pickup hotels change every year and the 2026 list isn't out yet. It also sold out in 2025 before the gates opened.
2. Grab Reliable
Grab works at the venue, and the festival runs a ride-share station near the Box Office with discount codes for ticket holders. The app fixes the price before you book, so there's no haggling.
The catch: Surge pricing is real when 25,000 people leave at once, and nobody has published what a 4am fare costs. Install the app and add a card before you fly.
3. The official taxi zone Usually fine
A staffed taxi area next to the shuttles, with what the festival calls standardised rates. It runs at all hours, because the site never closes.
The catch: The rates aren't published anywhere. The festival advises ignoring drivers who approach you and travelling in groups — so expect touts at this exit.
4. Your own car Usually fine
Parking was THB 250 pre-booked and THB 350 on the day in both 2024 and 2025, payable by Thai QR only. Motorbikes and scooters park free with no pass.
The catch: It solves the timing problem, but someone has to stay sober. Enter via Siam Country Club Soi 5 and exit on Soi 3 — tell your driver, because people often get this wrong.
5. Motorbike taxi Not a plan
About THB 100 for a ten- to fifteen-minute ride around the venue area.
The catch: That fare won't get you to Pattaya. At 15–22km it's a 25–40 minute ride at several times the price, on an unlit country road at night. Not a way home.
6. Public transport Does not exist
There's none. No bus, train or songthaew route reaches the venue.
The catch: Pattaya's railway station is on the wrong side of the city, about 20km away, with few trains. Intercity coaches stop at Pattaya Bus Terminal, which still leaves you 20km short.
What happens at 4am
It's calmer than at most festivals, because of the curfew. Entry stops at midnight and the site runs around the clock, so nobody is sent out at a closing time — there isn't one. There are people and staff on site at 4am, the taxi zone and ride-share station are permanent and next to the box office, and you'll get a car.
What nobody publishes is how much that car costs at that hour. Grab fixes the price in the app before you book, which is the best reason to use it, but surge pricing when twenty-five thousand people leave at once is real and unmeasured. Install Grab and add a payment card before you fly, not in a dark field on an unfamiliar phone network.
The real risk at the exit is the one the festival itself warns about: it advises ignoring drivers who approach you and travelling in groups, which tells you touts work this gate.
And the decision that matters at 4am isn't how you get back — it's whether you're done for the night, because once you're out, you can't get back in until eight.
The road to the venue
The venue is off Route 36, about twenty minutes east of the coast, past Wat Huai Yai. Two things to know, in case your driver doesn't know the site.
Enter on Siam Country Club Soi 5 and exit on Soi 3. People try to enter on Soi 3 and get turned away, so tell your driver.
Don't rent a scooter for this trip. It's an unlit country road, at night, after a festival. Helmets are required for rider and passenger — the fine is ฿2,000 for a passenger without one and ฿4,000 for the driver — and most travel insurance doesn't cover motorbikes without the right licence. Motorbike parking at the venue is free, which makes it tempting, but it's still a bad idea.
If you're driving your own car, parking was ฿250 booked in advance and ฿350 on the day in both 2024 and 2025, payable by Thai QR only — which most foreign visitors can't use. Check the 2026 arrangements before relying on it.
