Getting to The Fields
The venue is 140km from Bangkok and 20 minutes inland from the Pattaya coast, on a road with no bus, no train and nothing within walking distance. Here is what each leg actually costs and how long it really takes.
Fly into Suvarnabhumi, not Don Mueang. Everything to Pattaya leaves from the same place — Level 1 arrivals, Gate 8 — and Don Mueang adds an hour or more.
Take Bell Travel. Around THB 250–300 and it drops at your hotel, which removes the leg where people get overcharged.
Then buy the festival shuttle pass in its first price tier, before it sells out.

With luggage, Bell is the sweet spot. The coach is cheaper but leaves you at a Pattaya bus stop needing another hop with your bags, and it caps baggage at one bag plus a case up to 20kg — fine for a rucksack, awkward for a hard case plus camping kit.
On the taxi price. Suvarnabhumi's own rules allow drivers to agree a flat fare instead of the meter on journeys over 20km, and Pattaya is well over that. So a driver quoting a fixed price is not automatically scamming you — the scam is the number. Much above ฿1,800 is over the odds. Use the official rank between Gates 4 and 7 and walk past anyone who talks to you before you reach it.
Don Mueang is worth avoiding. The direct bus only runs roughly every four hours between about 06:30 and 17:30, and outside that window there is nothing. A taxi crosses the entire width of Bangkok before the motorway even starts.
U-Tapao is 30km from the venue and almost useless. It is a very small airport with about four domestic routes and no European or Gulf connections. It is worth one thing only: pairing the festival with a Samui or Phuket leg without backtracking through Bangkok.
Friday 4 December is the worst possible arrival
A good run from Bangkok is about two hours. A bad one is three or more, and the pinch point is getting out of the city rather than the motorway itself. Friday the 4th is a working Friday immediately before a three-day national holiday, on the main corridor to Thailand's biggest domestic beach destination.
Land at 4pm expecting to be at the gates by 7pm and you will be disappointed. Budget three to four hours door to gate — and remember Thursday's gate shuts at midnight, with no discretion. Arriving Wednesday solves all of it.
Pattaya to the gates, ranked
Every way out of The Fields, in the order we would actually rely on them.
1. Official festival shuttle Reliable
Unlimited journeys for the whole festival on one pass, booked through the BusX app, running between the site and a handful of named Pattaya hotels. THB 1,500 in the first tier in both 2024 and 2025, rising for later buyers, THB 350 for a walk-on single with no seat guarantee.
The catch: The hotel list changes every year and the 2026 list is not published yet. It also sold out in 2025 before the gates opened.
2. Grab Reliable
Grab works at the venue and the festival runs a ride-share station near the Box Office with discount codes for ticket holders. Prices are fixed in the app before you book, which removes the negotiation entirely.
The catch: Surge is real when 25,000 people leave a field at once, and nobody has published what a 4am fare actually costs. Install it and add a card before you fly.
3. The official taxi zone Usually fine
A staffed taxi area next to the shuttles offering what the festival calls standardised rates. It exists at all hours because the site runs around the clock.
The catch: The rates are not published anywhere. The festival's own advice is to ignore unsolicited drivers and travel in groups — which tells you touts work this exit.
4. Your own car Usually fine
Parking was THB 250 pre-booked and THB 350 on the day in both 2024 and 2025, payable by Thai QR only. Motorbikes and scooters park free with no pass.
The catch: It solves the timing problem and creates a sobriety one. Enter via Siam Country Club Soi 5 and exit on Soi 3 — tell the driver, because people get this wrong.
5. Motorbike taxi Not a plan
About THB 100 for a ten to fifteen minute hop around the venue approach.
The catch: That fare does not reach Pattaya. At 15–22km you are looking at a 25–40 minute ride at several times the price, on an unlit rural road, at night. Not a way home.
6. Public transport Does not exist
There is none. No bus, no train, no songthaew route reaches the venue.
The catch: Pattaya's railway station is on the wrong side of the city, about 20km away, on a low-frequency line. Intercity coaches serve Pattaya Bus Terminal, which still leaves you 20km short.
What actually happens at 4am
Less dramatic than at most festivals, and the reason is the curfew. Because entry stops at midnight and the site runs around the clock, nobody is turfed out at closing time — there isn't one. The site is populated and staffed at 4am, the taxi zone and the ride-share station are permanent infrastructure next to the box office, and you will get a car.
What is not published anywhere is what that car costs at that hour. Grab prices lock in the app before you book, which is the strongest argument for using it, but surge when twenty-five thousand people leave one field is real and unmeasured. Install Grab and add a payment card before you fly — doing it on unfamiliar data in a dark field is not the moment.
The genuine risk at the exit is the one the festival itself flags: its own advice is to ignore unsolicited drivers and travel in groups. That is an organiser telling you touts work this gate.
And the decision that actually matters at 4am is not how you get home. It is whether you are done — because once you are through that gate, you are out until eight.
The road itself
The venue sits off Route 36, about twenty minutes east of the coast, past Wat Huai Yai. Two things worth knowing before you are in a car with a driver who does not know the site.
Enter on Siam Country Club Soi 5 and exit on Soi 3. People try to enter on Soi 3 and get turned around. Say it to the driver.
Do not rent a scooter for this run. It is an unlit rural road, at night, after a festival. Helmets are mandatory for rider and passenger — ฿2,000 for a helmetless passenger and ฿4,000 for the driver who allowed it — and most travel insurance excludes motorbikes without the correct licence. Motorbike parking at the venue is free, which makes it tempting; it is still the wrong call.
If you are driving your own car, parking was ฿250 pre-booked and ฿350 on the day in both 2024 and 2025, payable by Thai QR only — which most foreign visitors cannot use. Check the 2026 arrangement before you rely on it.
