Where to stay for Kai Tak Stadium
The Weeknd plays here on 24, 25, 30 and 31 October 2026, BIGBANG on 13, 14, 15 and 17 November, BTS on 4, 6 and 7 March 2027 and Bruno Mars on 7, 8, 11 and 12 May. The stadium opened in 2025 and holds 50,000. If you sleep in Hong Kong, getting back is easy. If you plan to cross back to Shenzhen the same night, it's tight.
Stay in Kowloon. The stadium's two metro stations run until after midnight: the last train towards Hung Hom and Tsim Sha Tsui leaves Sung Wong Toi at 00:25.
Stay by the stadium if you want to walk back. One hotel is about 200 m away and four more are within about 1.1 km, so they're the first to go.
Don't count on Shenzhen the same night. For past concerts here the last train connecting to the Lo Wu border left at 22:59.

What time does it finish?
Not published. BTS start at 19:30. Live Nation Hong Kong gives a 19:30 start for all three BTS nights and no finish time. Plan around the last trains, not around a guess at the encore.
Before you book: decide which side of the border you're sleeping on
For concerts here in September 2025 and January 2026, Hong Kong's Transport Department said the last train to Lo Wu, changing at Tai Wai, would leave Sung Wong Toi at 22:59 and Kai Tak at 23:01. The Lo Wu crossing itself closes at midnight, and the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line crossing at 22:30.
BTS start at 19:30. With a 0.9 km walk out among 50,000 people, that leaves little room. The alternatives are a special bus to Lok Ma Chau, where the crossing is open all night, or a cross-boundary coach booked in advance.

How do you get back from Kai Tak Stadium after a concert?
Use Sung Wong Toi station, not Kai Tak. Both are on the Tuen Ma Line, but the sports park says Sung Wong Toi is quicker for the stadium. We measured about 0.9 km on foot to Sung Wong Toi and about 1.2 km to Kai Tak station.
The trains run past midnight. From Sung Wong Toi the last train towards Tuen Mun, which serves Hung Hom and Tsim Sha Tsui, leaves at 00:25. The last one towards Wu Kai Sha, for Diamond Hill and Tai Wai, leaves at 00:53. The gates close five minutes before each. For past concerts the MTR ran extra trains on this line.
Special buses ran too. For those concerts, eleven routes left from Sung Wong Toi Road, including the SP12 to Lok Ma Chau (San Tin) and the A25S to the airport and the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge.
Don't drive. The same notices asked concertgoers to avoid private cars, cross-boundary cars included, because of traffic around the park.
The last-train, bus and taxi arrangements are from the Transport Department's notices for earlier concerts. It publishes one for each event a few days before.
By taxi or ride app
- Red urban taxis. Metered, at fares set by the Transport Department.
- Uber. Operates in Hong Kong and shows the fare before you ride.
Where pickups happen: For past concerts the Kai Tak Stadium taxi pick-up area stayed open after the show, and the Sung Wong Toi Road one was closed to taxis. The Transport Department warned that the wait would be longer than usual. Arrangements are set for each event.
| To | Road distance | Rough fare |
|---|---|---|
| Hung Hom station | 4.4 km | about HK$54 |
| Mong Kok | 5.2 km | about HK$63 |
| Tsim Sha Tsui (East Tsim Sha Tsui station) | 6.5 km | about HK$77 |
Worked from Hong Kong's urban taxi fares in force since 14 July 2024 — HK$29 for the first 2 km, then HK$2.10 for every 200 m or minute of waiting until the meter reaches HK$102.50, and HK$1.40 after that — on road distances we measured. Waiting time in traffic, HK$6 per piece of luggage and any tunnel toll are extra.
- A ride to Hong Kong Island adds a harbour tunnel toll to the meter.
- The train costs a fraction of the fare and runs past midnight, so a taxi only makes sense for a group or a late change of plan.

Places to stay around Kai Tak Stadium
Live pricesWhich part of Hong Kong should you stay in?
Kai Tak and Kowloon City, by the stadium — Walk back, no train to catch
Suits: Anyone who wants to stay to the last song and be in bed twenty minutes later.
Getting there: A few hundred metres to about 1 km. Walk. Dorsett Kai Tak is about 200 m from the stadium; four more hotels with a 24-hour desk are within about 1.1 km, around Sung Wong Toi station and To Kwa Wan.
The old airport site, now the sports park, a mall and new towers, next to the older streets of Kowloon City and To Kwa Wan.
The trade-off: There are only a few hotels here for a stadium that holds 50,000, so they go first. Book a refundable room early.
Hung Hom and Whampoa — Three stops, and a taxi is cheap
Suits: People who want a big hotel and a short ride, without Tsim Sha Tsui prices.
Getting there: Three stops on the Tuen Ma Line from Sung Wong Toi, or about 4.4 km by road. Tuen Ma Line towards Tuen Mun: To Kwa Wan, Ho Man Tin, Hung Hom. The last train in that direction leaves Sung Wong Toi at 00:25.
A harbourfront residential district with several large hotels and the Whampoa shopping streets.
The trade-off: The big harbourfront hotels are up to about 1 km from Hung Hom station, so check the walk at the other end.
Tsim Sha Tsui — Most hotels, same line home
Suits: Most visitors, especially anyone making a few days of Hong Kong.
Getting there: Four stops on the Tuen Ma Line to East Tsim Sha Tsui, or about 6.5 km by road. Tuen Ma Line towards Tuen Mun, one stop past Hung Hom. The last train leaves Sung Wong Toi at 00:25 and Kai Tak at 00:23.
The main visitor district: the harbour promenade, the museums, Nathan Road and the Star Ferry.
The trade-off: You leave with everyone else. For past concerts the MTR ran extra trains on this line, but expect a queue into the station.
Mong Kok and Yau Ma Tei — Cheaper rooms, one change
Suits: People watching the budget who don't mind a change of train.
Getting there: About 5.2 km by road. Tuen Ma Line to Ho Man Tin, then change to the Kwun Tong Line. A taxi is about HK$63 on the meter.
Street markets, late-night food and smaller, cheaper hotels along Nathan Road.
The trade-off: We haven't checked the last connection at Ho Man Tin, so don't leave it late. A taxi is the fallback.
Hong Kong Island: Central, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay — Across the harbour
Suits: People already staying on the island for the rest of the trip.
Getting there: About 10 km by road to Central, through a harbour tunnel. Tuen Ma Line to Hung Hom, then the East Rail Line under the harbour to Admiralty. A taxi adds a tunnel toll to the meter.
The business district, the tram, and the hotels most first-time visitors book.
The trade-off: Two trains and a change after a 50,000-seat show. Kowloon is closer.

Shenzhen, going back the same night — The last train to the border leaves at 22:59
Suits: Only people willing to leave before the end, or who have pre-booked a cross-boundary coach.
Getting there: Train to Lo Wu, changing at Tai Wai, then the border. For past concerts here, the last train connecting to Lo Wu left Sung Wong Toi at 22:59 and Kai Tak at 23:01. The Lo Wu crossing closes at midnight.
Cheaper hotels across the border, which is why many mainland fans plan it.
The trade-off: An evening start and a 0.9 km walk out with the crowd leave little room before 22:59. Coach tickets aren't sold at the stadium after the show.
Things that will catch you out
The last train to the Shenzhen border leaves at 22:59 Affects getting home
For concerts here in September 2025 and January 2026, the Transport Department said the last train to Lo Wu, changing at Tai Wai onto the East Rail Line, would leave Sung Wong Toi at 22:59 and Kai Tak at 23:01. The Lo Wu crossing closes at midnight and the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line crossing at 22:30. Trains inside Hong Kong run for more than another hour, so this only catches people crossing back the same night.
Cross-boundary coaches can't be bought on the night Affects getting home
The sports park runs coaches to the mainland after concerts, but the Transport Department's notice says to buy tickets from the operators online in advance: "On-site ticket sales will not be available during dispersal." If you're relying on a coach, book it before you travel.
One of the two taxi areas shuts after the show Worth checking
For those concerts the Sung Wong Toi Road pick-up area took taxi drop-offs before the show only, and was closed to taxis afterwards. The Kai Tak Stadium taxi area stayed open, and the notice warned that the wait "will be longer" as the crowd leaves.
"Kai Tak" in a hotel's name doesn't mean it's next door Worth checking
Kai Tak is a whole district and the station of that name is the further of the two from the stadium, about 1.2 km on foot. The sports park itself says Sung Wong Toi is quicker for the stadium. Check a hotel's distance to the stadium, not to "Kai Tak".
What to do the rest of the day
The shows are in the evening, so the day is yours. From Kowloon the harbour is close: the Star Ferry, the Tsim Sha Tsui promenade and the Peak across the water.
Anything on Hong Kong Island is easiest in the morning, so you're back in Kowloon well before the doors open.
See what's bookableWhat we could not verify yet
- The finish times. Live Nation Hong Kong gives a 19:30 start for BTS and nothing else, and we haven't found start times for the other shows.
- The transport arrangements for BTS. The last train to Lo Wu, the special buses, the coaches and the taxi areas are what the Transport Department published for concerts in September 2025 and January 2026. It issues a notice for each event, a few days before, and nothing has been published yet for the shows listed here.
- The last connection from the Tuen Ma Line to Mong Kok (changing at Ho Man Tin) and to Hong Kong Island (changing at Hung Hom). We read the last trains at the two stadium stations, not the onward ones.
- How long the taxi queue runs after a show. The notices say only that the wait will be longer than usual.
- Uber's position by March 2027. It operates in Hong Kong now, and a licensing scheme for ride-hailing is due to take full effect in August 2027.
