Where to stay for Red Rocks

There's no train, no bus and no public transport of any kind from Red Rocks after a show, and the venue's own directions don't mention public transport at all. So where you stay decides how you get home, and what it costs.

The short answer

Stay in Golden. It's the closest town with a real choice of hotels — 38 properties, fifteen of them with a 24-hour front desk — and the shortest ride home at midnight.

Stay in Downtown Denver if you're making a trip of it. There's far more to do, far more choice, and the train to the airport — but the ride home takes forty minutes, at the most expensive time of night.

Don't count on Morrison, even though the amphitheatre is there. The town has just one property on Booking.com, and it's a room in a private basement.

What time does it finish?

Not published. Red Rocks doesn’t publish finish times; they vary by show. The one hotel shuttle with published times, the Kimpton Monaco’s, leaves the amphitheatre 30 minutes after the concert ends.

Denver's free shuttle to Red Rocks stops at 5pm

In 2026 RTD started the Westracks shuttle — free, every fifteen minutes, linking the W Line at Jefferson County Government Center•Golden to Red Rocks, Morrison and Dinosaur Ridge.

But it runs "every 15 minutes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.", on "Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays", from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. Doors for Red Rocks shows usually open later than that. RTD's announcement doesn't mention concerts, and the Denver Gazette's headline was clear: "Free Red Rocks shuttle rolls in 2026, but concerts won't be serviced just yet."

It's a shuttle for hikers, not concert-goers. Plan a concert night around it and you'll be stuck in a car park at 11pm with no way down.

The 2027 shows announced so far

The 2027 season is being announced a few shows at a time, as it is every autumn and winter. These were on the venue's calendar, all on sale, when we checked on 18 October 2026. Each link opens a search in Golden, the nearest town with a real choice of hotels, for that night.

Which hotels run a shuttle to Red Rocks

This is the question people actually arrive here asking — six separate searches a quarter, phrased every way round: hotels with a shuttle, hotels that offer a shuttle, Denver hotels with a shuttle, Golden hotels with a shuttle. It's a different question from the city one above, and it has a better answer.

The venue names its own lodging partners. Red Rocks' "Where to Stay" page lists three — Origin Red Rocks, The Crawford Hotel and Highland Haven Creekside — and of those it says only one thing about transport: "Origin Hotel offers a round-trip shuttle to Red Rocks on show nights."

Origin is also much closer than its address suggests. It calls itself "the preferred hotel of the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre" and lists "concert shuttle service with local partner" among its amenities. We measured it at 5.2 kilometres and eight minutes from the amphitheatre — the rest of Golden is more like twenty. What Origin doesn't publish is the times, the price, or whether you have to book, so ask when you reserve.

Kimpton Hotel Monaco, downtown, is the one that publishes actual times. Its shuttle "departs from the hotel 45 minutes prior to the venue's door opening time" and "departs from the amphitheater 30 minutes after the concert ends", a journey of "approximately 30 minutes". It doesn't say which nights it runs, what it costs, or whether you must reserve a seat.

The closest of all can't be booked through us. Arrowhead Manor, a bed and breakfast on US Highway 285 at Morrison, is "only 12 minutes to Red Rocks" and runs its own: $120 for one or two people round trip, $60 each after that, requested when you book the room. It warns that "our shuttles fill up quickly for concert nights". Neither it nor Highland Haven Creekside could be matched on Booking.com — searching Arrowhead Manor's name there returns a property in California — so both have to be booked direct, and there's no link here for either.

Every quote above is from the venue's or the hotel's own page, checked on 26 September 2026. None of them publishes a capacity, so none of this is a guarantee of a seat — confirm when you book, not on the night.

By taxi or ride app

  • Uber and Lyft. The venue names both for pickups after a show.
  • Taxis. Metered, and named by the venue alongside rideshare.

Where pickups happen: The venue says: "Passenger pickup (private vehicles, taxis, Uber/Lyft) at the end of an event is located in the Jurassic Lot." Your ride won't meet you at the gate.

ToRoad distanceRough fare
Downtown Golden12.0 km (7.4 mi)about $24
Denver Union Station26.8 km (16.6 mi)about $50

Rough fares use Metro Taxi's posted meter rates — $3.50 flag drop and $2.80 a mile — on road distances we measured, before waiting time, extra passengers and tip. Rideshare prices change with demand after a show, so we don't list them.

  • Pickup is in the Jurassic Lot, not at the entrance, so allow time to walk down before your driver can reach you.
  • When everyone leaves at once, ride-app waits and prices go up. A pre-booked car is the only way to fix the price.

What the venue's own directions say

Red Rocks' Getting Here page covers arriving in detail. It lists private cars, electric vehicles, carpools, private buses, limousines, in-park shuttles, taxis, Uber, Lyft and RVs. Nine ways to arrive, and none of them is a bus or train you can catch. If you're flying into Denver without a car, it won't help you.

One thing it does say is worth knowing: "Depending on where you are directed to park, you may have to hike. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes." You're at 6,400 feet, and your ride picks you up in the Jurassic Lot, not at the gate.

Where the hotels are

Morrison has just one listing, a private basement room. Everything else is ten to twenty-five miles away, so how you get home matters more than anything.

Two Golden hotels have "Red Rocks" in their name. For Origin it is earned: it's 5.2 km and eight minutes from the amphitheatre by road, and the venue names it as a lodging partner with a show-night shuttle. The Residence Inn is the twenty-minute drive, like the rest of the town.

We don't list nightly rates here: prices for these dates change too quickly, so the link shows live prices instead. "Unchecked" means we couldn't confirm the reception hours — ask the property before you book if you'll be back late. Reception hours come from each property's own listing, checked on the date at the bottom of the page. They can change, so confirm with the property if you'll arrive late.

Each area in more detail

Golden — Closest real choice of hotels

Suits: Almost everyone without a car. It's the closest place with a real choice of hotels and the shortest ride home.

Getting there: About 20 minutes by car. No public service after a show. The W Line ends at Jefferson County Government Center•Golden, where the free Westracks shuttle to Red Rocks starts — daytime only.

A small old mining town with 38 properties on Booking, fifteen of them with 24-hour reception.

The trade-off: You'll still need a car home at midnight. Two hotels here use the venue's name, but that doesn't make them any closer.

Lakewood — On the W Line, and cheaper

Suits: Anyone who wants the train into Denver by day and doesn't mind a car to the show at night.

Getting there: About 25 minutes by car. Several W Line stations, including one called Red Rocks College — named after a community college, and nowhere near the amphitheatre.

Denver's western suburb, with chain hotels along the Federal Center corridor — fifteen with a 24-hour desk.

The trade-off: Spread out and quiet in the evenings — it's mostly a business district.

See stays in Lakewood

Downtown Denver — Most to do, furthest away

Suits: People making a trip of it, and anyone flying in.

Getting there: Around 40 minutes by car, longer when a show lets out. Union Station connects to everywhere except Red Rocks. 45 downtown properties list a 24-hour front desk.

The city itself — bars, food, the airport train, and by far the most places to stay.

The trade-off: The longest ride home, at the time of night when fares are highest.

Morrison — One listing, in a basement

Suits: Nobody can plan around a single listing — but if it's free and you like it, it solves the problem.

Getting there: The venue is in this town. Walking distance, but there's almost nowhere to stay.

Booking lists exactly one property in Morrison: a private basement room.

The trade-off: Treat it as a lucky find, not a plan.

Things that will catch you out

There's a train station called Red Rocks, and it's not this one Worth checking

The W Line stops at Red Rocks College station, 13400 West 6th Avenue, Lakewood. It's named after Red Rocks Community College and is about half a mile north of the campus. The amphitheatre is in Morrison, a different town. Don't book a hotel near that station because of the name.

See Red Rocks by day

The park is open from an hour before sunrise to an hour after sunset every day, and the amphitheatre is worth seeing empty — guided walks, half-day tours from Denver and e-bike trips all include it.

On show days the venue says the amphitheatre usually closes to the public after lunch, around 2pm, for sound checks. Go in the morning, or on a day without a show.

What we could not verify yet

  • Whether RTD runs any concert-night bus to Red Rocks. Private shuttle companies say a Route 16L serves "select concert nights", but RTD's own special-events information lists Coors Field, Empower Field, the Convention Center and Auraria — not Red Rocks — and the current Golden/Colfax route is numbered 17. We couldn't confirm 16L exists, so we haven't listed it.
  • The private shuttle companies' claim that their last shuttle leaves 30 minutes after the event, and their $30–50 fares. Both figures come from the companies themselves.
  • How much rideshare prices rise after a show. It's widely reported, but we couldn't find a reliable measurement.
  • The last W Line train towards Denver. Other sources say about 23:23 on weeknights and after midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, but we haven't confirmed this against RTD's own timetable — and it only matters if you can get to the station.
