Where to stay for Kaohsiung National Stadium

BTS play here on 19, 21 and 22 November 2026, BIGBANG on 27 and 28 February 2027, and Bruno Mars on 1 and 2 May. Taiwan's biggest stadium holds 55,000 people, and most of them come down from Taipei — but the last train back leaves before the encore, so the question isn't which hotel, it's which city.

The short answer

Sleep in Kaohsiung, not Taipei. The last high-speed train from Zuoying that reaches Taipei leaves at 22:10. Shows here run to about 22:30 or later.

Stay in Zuoying if you want the shortest night. It's one metro stop from the stadium and beside the high-speed rail station, but the whole district lists only six hotels.

Otherwise stay in the city centre. Most of Kaohsiung's rooms are there, and the metro from the stadium runs until 00:18, so you can stay to the end.

What time does it finish?

About 22:30 or later — reported, not published. Live Nation Taiwan gives no start or finish time and says the running time depends on the night. Taiwanese concert guides put finishes here around 22:30; we haven’t timed one.

Before you book: the last train to Taipei goes at 22:10

On the high-speed rail timetable in force from 2 February 2026, the last northbound train from Zuoying that reaches Taipei leaves at 22:10 and arrives at 23:52.

Trains do leave later — 22:30, 22:50 and 22:55 — but they stop short of Taipei. The 22:55 gets you to Tainan at 23:08, which is the one late option if Kaohsiung is full.

How do you get back from Kaohsiung National Stadium after a concert?

The metro is the reliable way home. World Games station (R17) is a 1.2 km walk from the stadium, which we measured. The last train towards the city centre leaves at 00:18, and the last one north at 00:35. For big shows the city shortens the gap between trains to three to five minutes.

Free shuttles run to the stations, for two hours. For BLACKPINK in October 2025 the city ran them from the venue to Zuoying high-speed rail and Xinzuoying rail stations from 21:30 to 23:30. They're arranged per event, so check the notices for your date — and don't leave your last train depending on the last shuttle.

Driving isn't an option. For that show the venue provided no car parking at all, and World Games Boulevard was closed to traffic from 08:00 to midnight.

By taxi or ride app

  • Uber. Works in Kaohsiung and shows the fare before you ride.
  • Taiwan Taxi (55688). The main local app and phone line; cars are metered.
  • Street taxis. Metered, and easy to find in the city centre — less so at the stadium when a show empties.

Where pickups happen: There's no published taxi rank at the stadium, and World Games Boulevard is closed to traffic on show days until midnight, so a car can't reach the gate. Walk out to the main road or towards the MRT station before you book one.

ToRoad distanceRough fare
Zuoying high-speed rail station4.9 kmabout NT$180
City centre (Formosa Boulevard)9.9 kmabout NT$305
Kaohsiung Main Station9.6 kmabout NT$300

Worked from Kaohsiung's official taxi fares in force since 1 September 2026 — NT$85 for the first 1.25 km, then NT$5 every 200 m — on road distances we measured, before slow-traffic time (NT$5 per 100 seconds below 5 km/h). After 23:00 the fare rises by 20%, so a ride into the city after a show costs about NT$365.

  • A taxi to the city centre costs roughly ten times the MRT fare, and the MRT runs past midnight.
  • The road closure means the queue for a car forms away from the gate, with the whole crowd walking out at once.

Which hotels are near Kaohsiung National Stadium?

Every hotel below lists a 24-hour front desk on Booking.com. The first five are near the stadium or the high-speed rail station; the rest are in the city centre, on the metro line that serves the stadium.

Zuoying District — the stadium's own district — lists six hotels in total, four of them with a 24-hour desk, for a stadium that holds 55,000. Everything closer is a homestay, hostel or motel, so book early or take the metro from town.

Distances to the stadium and the station are Booking.com's straight-line figures. Walking and road distances elsewhere on this page were measured on OpenStreetMap.

Should you stay in Zuoying, the city centre or Tainan?

Zuoying, by the high-speed rail station — Nearest rooms with a night desk

Suits: Anyone arriving by high-speed rail, and anyone who wants a reception desk staffed when they get back.

Getting there: One MRT stop, or about 4.9 km by road. MRT Red line from Zuoying/R16 to World Games/R17, then a 1.2 km walk we measured. The free post-show shuttles run back here too.

The station district: the high-speed rail terminus, a big mall, the old city walls and the lotus ponds.

The trade-off: Booking.com lists only six hotels in the whole of Zuoying District, four of them with a 24-hour front desk. They fill up first for a stadium show.

Kaohsiung city centre: Central Park, Formosa Boulevard and the main station — Most rooms, metro home after the show

Suits: Most people, especially anyone making a few days of it in Kaohsiung.

Getting there: About 10 km, roughly 20 minutes on the MRT Red line plus the walk. MRT to World Games/R17. The last train back towards the centre leaves R17 at 00:18, so you can stay to the end and still ride home.

The main hotel district, with the night markets, the Love River and Pier-2 art centre.

The trade-off: You leave with everyone else: the city shortens MRT headways to three to five minutes for big shows, but the platform at R17 is still busy.

Around the stadium: World Games and Nanzih — Walk back, but few hotels

Suits: People who want to walk back and don't need a reception desk.

Getting there: Under 2 km. Walk. Nothing to catch, and nothing to queue for.

A quiet district of university campuses, apartment blocks and small guesthouses.

The trade-off: Almost everything within 2 km is a homestay, hostel or motel. On Booking.com the nearest place listing a 24-hour desk is a motel 1.8 km away, so arrange late check-in before you book.

Tainan — Up the line, and it works later than Taipei

Suits: People who couldn't get a room in Kaohsiung, or who want Tainan anyway.

Getting there: About 15 minutes by high-speed rail from Zuoying. The last northbound train that stops at Tainan leaves Zuoying at 22:55 and arrives 23:08 — 45 minutes later than the last train to Taipei.

Taiwan's old capital, an easy add-on to the trip.

The trade-off: You still have to get from the stadium to Zuoying station in time, with the whole crowd doing the same. Leave before the encore or take a taxi.

Taipei, as a day trip — The last train leaves before the show ends

Suits: Nobody, for this show. Come down and sleep in Kaohsiung.

Getting there: About 1 hour 40 minutes by high-speed rail, each way. The last northbound train to Taipei leaves Zuoying at 22:10, arriving 23:52.

Where most overseas visitors base themselves in Taiwan.

The trade-off: Shows here usually finish around 22:30 or later, so 22:10 is gone before the encore. Later departures exist but they stop short of Taipei.

Things that will catch you out

The last train to Taipei goes before the encore Affects getting home

On the high-speed rail timetable in force from 2 February 2026, the last northbound train from Zuoying that reaches Taipei leaves at 22:10 and gets in at 23:52. Trains do leave later — 22:30, 22:50 and 22:55 — but they stop short of Taipei. Shows at this stadium usually run to about 22:30 or later, so plan to sleep in Kaohsiung.

There is no car park, ever Affects getting home

For BLACKPINK in October 2025 the city's transport bureau stated the venue "never provides car parking spaces", closed World Games Boulevard entirely from 08:00 to 24:00 on show days, and ran motorcycle parking only. Don't plan on driving to the gate or being dropped off there.

Free shuttles run, but only for a two-hour window Worth checking

For that show the city ran free shuttles from the venue to Zuoying high-speed rail and Xinzuoying rail stations from 21:30 to 23:30, with inbound shuttles 14:30–18:30. Shuttles are arranged per event, so check the promoter's and the city's notices for your date, and don't leave the last train to the last shuttle.

Zuoying has six hotels in total Worth checking

On Booking.com the whole of Zuoying District lists six hotels, four with a 24-hour front desk, for a 55,000-seat stadium. Everything else nearby is a homestay, hostel or motel. Book early, or stay in the city centre and take the MRT.

What to do the rest of the day

Doors open in the evening, so the day is yours. Kaohsiung is a harbour city: the Pier-2 art centre in the old docks, the ferry to Cijin island, the Lotus Pond temples a few minutes from Zuoying, and night markets after that.

Anything at Cijin or the harbour is easiest before you head north to the stadium, because the metro ride between them takes about half an hour.

What we could not verify yet

  • The show times. Live Nation Taiwan's ticket page gives no start or finish time, and says the running time depends on the night. The "about 22:30" finish is what Taiwanese concert guides report for shows at this stadium, not something we timed.
  • The shuttles for BTS. The times above are the city's arrangements for BLACKPINK in October 2025; nothing has been published yet for November 2026.
  • A third-party timetable site gives the last trains at World Games station as 23:47 and 23:35. Kaohsiung Rapid Transit's own page says 00:18 and 00:35, and that is what we print.
  • Taxi waiting times at the stadium after a show. We found no published pickup point or rank.
  • Whether BIGBANG's and Bruno Mars's shows get the same city shuttles and road closure as BLACKPINK's did. The pattern is consistent for big shows here, but each event is arranged separately.
