Where to stay for Primavera Sound 2027
Barcelona has plenty of hotels. The question isn't whether you'll find a room — it's which ones leave you stranded when the metro closes, and which let you walk back.
Stay in Diagonal Mar if you want to walk back every night without thinking about it, or Poblenou if you also want good places to eat. You can walk to the site from both.
Stay central — the Born, the Gothic Quarter or eastern Eixample if the festival is only half your trip and you don't mind the shuttle. Choose Badalona if you want to halve the price.
Avoid Gràcia and Sants if you're going all three days. Both are on the wrong side of the city.

Before you book: no metro on Thursday night
Barcelona's metro closes at midnight Monday to Thursday, but Primavera's late stages run until about 6–8am. So on Thursday 3 June, the first main night, there's no metro back for six hours after it closes.
On Friday it runs until 2am, and on Saturday it runs all night. At least one popular guide says the metro runs until 2am on weekdays — that's wrong, and could leave you stranded.

Specific places to stay
Closest first. Book early for Barcelona Princess and AC Hotel Fòrum: that's where most of the artists and their crews stay, so they go as soon as 2027 rooms go on sale.
Also worth knowing: a hostel with 24-hour reception and a bar downstairs won't mind what time you come in, but a small guesthouse or apartment with a keypad and neighbours will. That matters more than the star rating when you're back at 6am.

Each area in more detail
Diagonal Mar — Walk home
Suits: Anyone going hard all three days, and anyone going on Thursday.
No character at all — it's a convention district that happens to face the Mediterranean, and you're 25–30 minutes from anywhere you'd want to eat.
Poblenou — Best overall
Suits: Most people. A real neighbourhood with good food, close enough to walk.
Poblenou is big. A hotel near Glòries is a 20-minute journey; one near Poblenou metro is six minutes. Check which end before you book.
Vila Olímpica — On the all-night tram
Suits: Couples, and anyone travelling with a partner who isn't going to the festival.
Port Olímpic at 2am is full of stag parties and known for pickpockets. Stay on the inland Vila Olímpica side, not by the marina.
El Born / Gothic — Good for 1–2 festival days
Suits: First-timers, and anyone whose trip is 60% Barcelona and 40% festival.
You'll pay the city's highest rates for a room you'll spend four hours a night in — often in an 18th-century building with thin walls and neighbours who won't like you coming back at 6am.
Eixample (east) — Compromise
Suits: Anyone wanting a proper city break wrapped around the festival.
Only the eastern side works. Anywhere out near Hospital Clínic or Entença means changing trains and a 40-minute journey.
Badalona — Best value
Suits: Anyone who wants half the price and a real seaside town.
Prices barely rise for Primavera, because Badalona hotels don't price around a Barcelona festival. But don't walk back at night — the direct route passes La Mina. Take the tram, train or a taxi.
Gràcia — Avoid for all 3 days
Suits: People going to one festival day and spending three days in Barcelona.
It's all about geography: Gràcia is uphill and inland, the Fòrum is downhill by the coast. You'll save €60 a night and spend it getting back at 5.30am.
Sants — Cheap, but far
Suits: Only if you're arriving by train from France or Madrid.
It's the opposite corner of the city from the venue. You'd save maybe €40 a night and lose two hours a day.
Things that will catch you out
The tourist tax doubled in April 2026
It's charged per person per night on top of your room rate, and is usually collected at the hotel rather than included in your booking. It's currently €7.00 at a 1–3 star hotel, €8.40 at a 4-star, €12.00 at a 5-star, €9.50 in a licensed apartment and €6.00 in a hostel — plus 10% VAT, for up to seven nights. Two people staying four nights in a 4-star will pay around €75 extra.
Check the apartment licence, not the registration number
Tourist apartments are still legal for June 2027, but every licence in Barcelona expires by November 2028 and none have been issued since 2014. Make sure you see a Catalan HUT number. Spain's national registration scheme was struck down by the Supreme Court in May 2026, so a national registry number no longer proves anything.
The other music Barcelona does
Primavera's gates open late in the afternoon and the last sets finish around breakfast, so most of each day is free. The live music the festival doesn't have is flamenco: small tablaos and theatre shows across the city centre, most lasting about an hour.
Pick a show on a night you're not at the festival, or one early enough to finish before the gates open.
See what's bookableIs there camping?
No. There's no campsite. Primavera is an urban festival on a concrete site with no field, and wild camping is illegal. The nearest campsites are at Gavà, Castelldefels and Vilanova — all on the wrong side of the city from the Fòrum. El Masnou and Mataró are the only two on the right side, both on the same coastal train line as the venue, but those trains stop around midnight, so you'd need a taxi back anyway.
When to book
Tickets for 2026 sold out in February, the second year in a row, and hotel demand follows ticket sales. Here's when to act:
- Now, or as soon as you decide: book something refundable. This far ahead, prices are set by the season, not by demand, so this is as cheap as the room will be.
- Now that the line-up is out: it was announced on 5 October 2026, led by Doechii, Phoebe Bridgers, Fontaines D.C., Massive Attack, Turnstile and FKA twigs, and tickets went on general sale on 9 October, from €350 plus fees. Demand for rooms rises from here, so don't wait longer than this.
- January or February 2027: check prices again once tickets sell out. If they've dropped, rebook; if they've risen, you're already covered.
- Never book non-refundable more than about eight weeks ahead.
Book four nights rather than three. The official dates are 3–5 June, but there's usually a Wednesday opening party and city gigs either side, and four nights also meets the minimum-stay rules common in Barcelona in high season.
